Sharing knowledge

We are happy to share our expertise on sustainable construction and the energy transition. In this way we hope to inspire others and accelerate the transformation of the construction industry.

Initiatives we’re participating in

We are member of impactful initiatives, where we share our knowledge and learn from other forward-thinking organisations. Here you can find some examples.

VLAIO Living Lab Hennep+

C-biotech is participating in the Vlaio Living Lab Hemp+ which promotes the use of bio-based materials like industrial hemp in construction. The initiative fosters collaboration across the value chain to align supply and demand, enabling sustainable value creation through circular design and business models.

Tetra Circular Conceptbuilding (CiCo)

Led by PXL Hasselt University, the Tetra Circular Conceptbuilding initiative involves over 50 participants in the construction value chain, including Cordeel. The program seeks to facilitate the adoption of circular construction methods and promote sustainable building practices in Limburg.

Green Deal Inland Shipping

The Green Deal Inland Shipping aims to achieve zero-emission logistics by 2050. C-ground annually transports 150,000 – 200,000 tons of soil via waterways while C-concrete uses shipping for delivering sand, precast elements, and other raw materials, reducing road traffic and promoting sustainable logistics. The initiative outlines 15 strategic objectives focusing on technology, finance, policy, and implementation.

Green Deal Klimaatbestendige Omgeving

Green Deal Klimaatbestendige Omgeving (“climate resilient environment”) aims to make Flanders more resilient to climate change and biodiversity loss. This initiative brings together over 90 organizations across sectors to implement climate-adaptive solutions in spatial development. Through collaborative efforts, the deal focuses on knowledge sharing, scaling up best practices, and integrating climate considerations into policy and planning.

Green Deal Deelmobiliteit en Wonen

C-living contributes to the Green Deal Deelmobiliteit en Wonen, striving to integrate shared mobility solutions like car and bike sharing into residential areas by 2027. The initiative, involving 65 organizations, addresses practical and legal challenges, promotes knowledge exchange, and aims to reduce private car ownership, thereby enhancing the quality of living environments.

Flemish Concrete Agreement

We are proud to be one of the signatories of the Flemish Concrete Agreement, which aligns with Cordeel Group’s sustainability strategy.  The agreement is supported by a wide range of stakeholders including contractors, concrete producers, demolishers, associations, study offices, research centres and government organisations.

The Flemish Concrete Agreement sets ambitious targets for the reduction of CO₂-eq emissions from concrete:

  • By 2030:
    • 50% reduction in CO₂-eq emissions from concrete applied in the Flemish Region compared to 1990 emissions.
    • the design of buildings should provide that concrete elements can be maximally reused or that the functions in the building can be maximally adapted.
    • No more substances will be present in buildings that prevent recycling.
    • Concrete released from demolition whose quality is suitable for the production of high-quality concrete aggregates reused in ready-mixed concrete, road concrete and/or precast concrete.
  • By 2050:
    • Zero CO₂ emission per m³ of concrete used in the Flemish Region
