Key sustainability achievements 2025
Significant reduction of GHG emissions.
Compared to the previous year, we emitted 1,321.8 tons CO2 less, which is an absolute reduction of 19.1 %.
The main driver of this reduction was the electrification of our fleet and construction sites. This resulted in a reduction of fossil fuels of 441,162 liters compared to previous year.
Compared to our base year in 2021 we were able to reduce our absolute emissions even by 50.4%.
In 2025 we reported on the GHG emissions of almost the complete Cordeel Group, 99.5% of the revenue was covered by this reporting.
C-energy won a contract to provide heat to 3,500 homes
C-energy, together with consortium partners KARNO and Hydrogaz, was awarded the contract by the Kirchberg Fund to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain what is considered one of the most ambitious low-carbon heating and cooling networks in Europe.
The network covers 33 hectares and serves 3,500 homes, a school, and care facilities, providing low-carbon heat and cooling to around 8,000 inhabitants.
The system combines decentralised closed geothermal boreholes (“BEO”), air-water heat pumps, and thermal solar panels that simultaneously generate electricity and recharge the geothermal boreholes, keeping efficiency high over the long term.
The contract runs for 25 years, making this both a technical milestone and a long-term commitment to Luxembourg’s energy transition.
Acquisition of a hemp wool insulation factory
In late 2025, we acquired Kingspan’s production facility in Nördlingen, Germany, through our joint venture C-Hempflax Building Solutions GmbH.
The factory, operational since the 1990s, produces hemp wool insulation and holds the certifications needed to supply the market immediately.
With this acquisition, we control the full chain from the farmers who grow the hemp to the finished insulation product, allowing us to scale production and bring bio-based insulation to market at a pace that matches growing demand for lower embodied carbon in construction.
Brink Towers on National Geographic
Our energy-positive project “Brink Towers” in Amsterdam was part of an episode of “Engineering Europe” of the famous National Geographic.
C-battery raises €10 million to accelerate European growth
In 2025, C-battery completed a €10 million capital round to scale its energy storage operations across Europe.
Cordeel Group supported the round with a €3 million convertible loan and remains the largest shareholder through C-energy.
The investment will allow C-battery to more than double its workforce, increase production capacity, and expand into new European markets.
Sinqer: circular timber construction at scale
Cordeel Group launched Sinqer, a circular prefab timber construction system built around 3D modules assembled within the group.
The materials are largely bio-based, store CO₂, and significantly shorten construction time on site while reducing total build costs.
The fully integrated chain, from engineering through to assembly and installation, gives clients a faster, lower-carbon alternative to conventional construction without compromising on quality.
We won the Embuild Foundation Award
In 2025, we won the Embuild Foundation Award together with Buurman Antwerpen.
The Embuild Foundation, founded in 2011 by Embuild, the Belgian Construction Association, recognises construction companies that create societal value through voluntary partnerships with organisations working on social inclusion, wellbeing, or cultural heritage.
Since 2023, Cordeel Group companies have been giving construction materials and production offcuts a second life at Buurman rather than sending them to waste.
At Buurman, these materials are dismantled, sorted, and prepared for reuse by people recovering from burnout, long-term unemployed individuals, and students at risk of dropping out.
By the end of 2026, a second social workplace will be set up to expand both social employment and material reuse further. The award, handed over by Niko Demeester, CEO of Embuild, came with €10,000 to reinforce exactly that.
